The olives are coming

We have about thirty olive trees on our little farm, and each year we pick up some and prepare them ourselves.

Right now the olives are already big and meaty but it’ll take two more months for the picking.

I thought to give you a sneak preview on one of our olive trees.

We find it fun and educative to follow nature when we are so close to the land

Evening of a summer day

After some weeks of heat that sometimes continued through the night, we had our first late afternoon of a cool, delicious, paradise-like evening!

It is certainly the beginning of the end of summer.

What you can not see here in this panoramic photo is the SILENCE, the awesome silence of evening falling.

Wish you were here!

Yummy Figs Came Early….

Our own huge fig tree is full of figs, but today, on the way back home from a 4.4 star Sushi restaurant, we discovered that the figs on the wild fig trees that are lined on our dirt road have suddenly turned purple.

Solange stepped out of the car, and after tasting one, she continued and picked a handful. It was 41 Celsius today, so we hurried home, put the figs in the refrigarator.

Four hours later, as the evening fell and the temperature became bearable again, we sat outside, looked at the landscape and ate figs.

COLD, HONEY SWEET FIGS!

Life is good!

Summer in the studio

The view from our studio is magnificent – we love it!

But the view in the summer is not just breath taking but also gives the feeling (and justification( of doing nothing

It is like that  during the day

In the night the cool laziness is still there in the air.

Isn’t the song “Sunny Afternoon” by The Kinks just the best background music?

ENJOY the music and the summer! Love and Peace!

PS Here are the lyrics if you wanna sing along…

The tax man’s taken all my dough
And left me in my stately home
Lazing on a sunny afternoon
And I can’t sail my yacht
He’s taken everything I got
All I’ve got’s this sunny afternoon

Save me, save me, save me from this squeeze
I gotta big fat mama trying to break me
And I love to live so pleasantly
Live this life of luxury
Lazing on a sunny afternoon
In the summertime
In the summertime
In the summertime

My girlfriend’s run off with my car
And gone back to her ma and pa
Telling tails of drunkenness and cruelty
Now I’m sitting here
Sipping at my ice cold beer
Lazing on a sunny afternoon

Help me, help me, help me sail away
Well give me two good reasons why I oughta stay
‘Cause I love to live so pleasantly
Live this life of luxury
Lazing on a sunny afternoon
In the summertime
In the summertime
In the summertime

Ah, save me, save me, save me from this squeeze
I gotta big fat mama trying to break me
And I love to live so pleasantly
Live this life of luxury
Lazing on a sunny afternoon
In the summertime
In the summertime
In the summertime
In the summertime
In the summertime

Better Blood Circulation

Another Reason to Walk Barefoot

Walking Barefoot Improves Your Blood Circulation

This is a scientific fact but also one you can test yourself.Going barefoot might be for someone who’s feet are often cold.

Do you suffer from cold feet? that can be really annoying. Here is why going barefoot might be for someone who’s feet are often cold.

Here is something you are familiar with. In winter, when it’s really cold what do you do when your fingers get really cold? Massage them, right?

The same happens with your feet when you walk barefoot – you are giving your feet a massage.

Because the surface that we are walking on is rarely even, so when we walk the uneven surface stimulates our muscles and increases blood circulation in the feet.

Improving your blood circulation in your feet is certainly a health benefit. women, of course, win even more because they have the barefoot sandals to look sexy while getting healthier.

How fashion has changed

That is the traditional way the women in Nazaré (it is a small fishing village in the middle of the country) used to wear decades ago.

Of course, the fashion has changed, but the old women are still wearing this same outfit.

This woman is busy renting the tents on the beach for the morning inflow of beachgoers.

While visiting Nazaré (Portuguese for Nazareth), we overlooked the small town and Solange introduced Escova to the Atlantic ocean. Solange is passionately in love with Escova as is obvious.

By the way, Escova was definitely not impressed by the ocean.

What is your idea about this fashion of yesteryear?
